    Watershed Groups to Merge

    A Watershed Moment: Five organizations will become one. Baltimore Harbor Watershed Association, Gwynns Falls Watershed Association, Herring Run Watershed Association, Jones Falls Watershed Association and the Baltimore Harbor WATERKEEPER adopted resolutions  in the latter part of 2009 signaling their intent to merge into one organization.     5% Day @ Wholefoods Mt. Washington

    Thanks to everyone who came out to Whole Foods Market in Mt Washington on Tuesday, June 29th for its 5% Community Day. The store donated 5% of ALL gross sales that day to the Baltimore area watershed organizations!  Special thanks to Mt. Washington Mill who worked with Whole Foods Market Mt. Washington to match the money raised at the 5% Community Day!!!

    The proceeds will help the organizations’ collective missions to achieve clean water in Baltimore’s rivers, streams, and harbor, so that citizens of the Baltimore region will enjoy a healthy natural environment, livable neighborhoods, and a healthy Chesapeake Bay.

    Special thanks to Mt. Washington Mill who worked with Whole Foods Market Mt. Washington to match the money raised at the 5% Community Day!!!

    Benefiting organizations include:  Baltimore Harbor Watershed Association, Gwynns Falls Watershed Association, Herring Run Watershed Association, Jones Falls Watershed Association, and the Baltimore Harbor WATERKEEPER.

    Greenest Non-profit

    Herring Run Watershed Association Wins Greenest Non-Profit of the Year! The Baltimore Business Journal hosted its 3rd Annual Green Business Awards luncheon on April 15  to recognize companies embracing green policies and procedures.  We are delighted to report that the Herring Run Watershed Association was awarded First Place in the Greenest School/Non-Profit category.  Thanks to everyone who voted for us.  We will continue to do our very best to serve our communities and streams!

    EcoStar Grants Awarded

    Watershed Organizations receive Constellation Energy’s 2010 EcoStar Grants awards! Herring Run Watershed received the award for is focus on pollution prevention through the “Saving Streams through Downspout Disconnection” in Baltimore City.  The Gwynns Falls Watershed received the award for is focus on pollution prevention through the “Downspout Disconnection” in Baltimore County. Finally, the Jones Falls Watershed received the award for is focus on conservation through the “Forest Conservation: Invasive Vine Management of Mature Trees ” in Baltimore County.
